It has open plains, scenic beaches and gold sunsets in the horizon. The wetlands and coastal areas of the park are the essential habitats, which attract the herds of animals, whereas the surrounding zones represent the natural beauty of the southeastern region of Sri Lanka. Unlike busy cities, Yala is a quiet place with safari routes and observation areas that depict its ecological and conservation background.
The Yala national park is a wonderful and abundant wildlife experience, with the most elusively found species being Sri Lankan leopards, which is the most concentrated park in the world, and is observed in numbers due to that level of concentration. There are also the elephants and other animals that are spotted throughout the park. It is not only a park of the landscapes, but a place where nature and wildlife coexist peacefully. Although this is not a human cuisine, the nearby local cuisines such as rice and curry, hoppers, and Ceylon tea are available to the visitors. Tourism plays an important role in the economy of the park; it helps to conserve the park and to provide the local communities with livelihood in southeastern Sri Lanka.
Yala national park identity is founded on nature and calmness. The park has fertile grasslands, seasonal wetlands, the coastal dunes where marine animals exist, and serene observation areas. Leopard and elephant safaris, birdwatching field trips along the lagoons or misty dunes and pre-historic ruins are presented to the tourists. Yala has a wide array of wildlife, such as sloth bears, crocodiles, spotted deer, water buffaloes, monkeys and more than 200 species of birds and thus a fascinating place to visit by nature lovers around the globe.
